Dear Saints,
I’ve realized over the years that the most important but oftentimes the most neglected conversation we can have in Christianity is the privilege of knowing God. While various subject matters in the kingdom of God typically draw great interest and excitement- pure and simple-hearted devotion to Jesus seems to be a lost art these days.
Listen to Paul the Apostle’s concern that he shares with the church of Corinth when he says, “But I am afraid that just as Eve was deceived by the serpent’s cunning, your minds may somehow be led astray from your sincere and pure devotion to Christ.” 2 Cor 11:3
Paul was more than concerned, he was deeply troubled. I sense in my heart that a similar concern and even disturbance can be felt around the world today. Have we left pure and simple-hearted devotion to Jesus for other pursuits in the kingdom of God? What about the church at Ephesus who Jesus said had done many great works but they had forsaken their first love? (Rev 2:4)
