The Altar Church was established in 2022 in Kannapolis, North Carolina by Apostolic Leaders Jeremiah and Morgan Johnson. The Altar Church is a Jesus-centered community of believers who exist to steward the fire of revival in the context of family with the oversight of fathering.
The Altar Church Houston was launched in January 2026 under the leadership of Senior Leaders Josh and Bernice Scheidler.

Josh and Bernice Scheidler are the Senior Leaders at The Altar Houston. For eight years, they pastored Ignite Faith Church in Redmond, Oregon, raising leaders, building community, and stewarding revival. In 2024, they moved to Houston, Texas to continue following God's call.
Josh, with the heart of a shepherd, loves people and thrives in community. His pastoral gifting creates a safe space where others grow, heal, and are equipped. A passionate preacher, he loves helping people understand and live the Word of God.
Bernice serves alongside him and leads Bernice Scheidler Ministries. A prophetic voice, intercessor, writer, and course creator, she burns to see believers hear God's voice, deepen their walk with Jesus, and step into their God-given fullness.
Together, they are devoted to hosting God's presence and seeing lives transformed through His Word and Spirit.
